Working with a property management firm, we built a sophisticated, website request for proposal process. This enables prospective service vendors to search/locate details from over a thousand different properties, and then place bids for services such as lawn care, snow removal and janitorial.
The workflow takes place on a dedicated WordPress site, leveraging a versatile Gravity Forms plugin ecosystem. Over time, the solution should save hundreds of staff hours that would otherwise require a far more manual process (or expensive, bulky alternatives).
This system is built and functioning very well, and we continue to grow it aggressively with new features and business processes.
Our relationship is on a contract basis, with monthly minimum and maximum hourly guidelines.
Recently launched in summer 2017, this has been a substantial e-commerce project for a plumbing supply manufacturer. Involving hundreds of products – many with a variety of configurations (material variables, size and length, etc.) – this WordPress site requires a strong e-commerce plugin that can handle many unique needs.
We chose WooCommerce and its wide array of adaptable extensions, to handle zone and weight-based shipping, image galleries, dynamic pricing, payment gateways, and more.
Our site development consisted of a fixed bid, 6-month long initial project that is now active and busy e-commerce. Rivermile continues to provide a monthly service and maintenance contract, to ensure continuous improvement.
As a long-time provider of website services for a local, environmental-oriented non-profit, we're in tune with their evolution and needs. A volunteer-oriented project called for a new mobile application to collect and relay extensive details. We helped to refine the project goals and prototype, with Rivermile providing technical details that can often be overlooked when scoping a project of this nature.
As this sub-site required specialized coding and expertise, we introduced the non-profit to a very capable WordPress digital firm here in the Twin Cities.
In this case, Rivermile acted as a technical 'broker' for the non-profit, assisting them in definition of project needs and in their relationship with the agency vendor. The mobile application is scheduled for launch in Spring 2017.
For a couple dozen small-to-medium sized businesses and organizations, Rivermile handles WordPress site maintenance and technical assistance under our PressRanger maintenance plans. These clients are invoiced at an affordable monthly rate, and we provide the following services:

- Ensure regular off-site backup procedures
- Monitor security and hosting configurations
- Act as technical liaison for website-related questions
- Manage their hosting account and environment (option)
- Provide up to three "small tasks" monthly* (option)
* These “small tasks” are defined as tasks that we know we can accomplish quickly and in one short session. This can include phone support or training, plugin research or consultation, design tweaks, and even minor content changes or additions.
We believe PressRanger maintenance services are a tremendous value. Our clients have the piece-of-mind to know that everyday tasks are going to be handled in a timely fashion, with no surprises in cost. On the occasions where website or content needs call for more detailed or intensive work beyond the base plan, hourly or project rates apply.
