Rivermile is owned and operated by Howie Burke. I've developed and supported websites since 1996. Experienced with content systems, training programs, design and usability, I have the technical and communications skills to optimize your online projects.
I'm an alumni of the the University of Minnesota, with a degree from the School of Journalism. Much of my career has been in the newspaper business, starting with graphic design and pre-press production at the Minnesota Daily, then on to other papers, eventually settling in at ECM Publishers and its large group of community newspapers. While with ECM, I spearheaded our entry into websites during the 1990s. Later, I guided the dozens of company website properties through commerce, design and platform upgrades.
I launched Rivermile in 2009, and took it into full-time self-employment in the spring of 2013. While largely a solo operation, I sometimes engage with my graphic-designer spouse for design and multimedia support. And depending on project needs, I occasionally sub-contract or refer to local developers as well.
The agile media approach recognizes the dynamic changes that occur in modern technology and content delivery. Agility is the key to putting those improvements to work for you. Rivermile delivers user-friendly, versatile websites and online content, at reasonable cost and with exceptional service.
For the most part, I work out of my home in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.
My 'other' office is at Fueled Collective, a thriving co-location environment here in the Twin Cities. Aside from providing unique work spaces, Fueled Collective accommodates web developers, designers, and a wide variety of tech startups. I rotate through the three different locations in Minneapolis, often consulting with other WordPress professionals. This network can be a valuable resource in finding just the right solution for your website project.
