North Wright County Today

Launched in March 2014, North Wright County Today is a hyper-local community news site. The site runs under WordPress on a Genesis-framework theme. The site draws high traffic, largely mobile, driven by Facebook integration. The site has quickly grown to 25k+ visitors and 80k+ pageviews per month, so performance tuning and host selection has been an important factor.

Freshwater Society

This water conservation non-profit has several websites including the primary site and masterwaterstewards.org. A large quantity of conservation-oriented news, combined with full-featured event registrations, photographer upload tools, calendar sales, and assorted special features demand a dynamic and pro-active approach to development.

Among the custom designed and coded project completed for Freshwater Society was Community Cleanups for Water Quality. The technical solution here included a reporting system for Girl Scout troop leaders as well as other volunteer organizations. Using PHP/MySQL, the reporting form provided instant feedback, leveraging the Wufoo forms API and Google Charts.

Designed and implemented a variety of email marketing campaigns, including scheduled newsletters, event announcements, and RSS-driven campaigns. List management and tutorials, website subscribe/unsubscribe integrations, and best practices have been key aspects, putting emphasis on ease-of-use and clarity in sign-up, and email messages with clear calls to action.Worked with mail service applications such as MailChimp, Constant Contact, Campaign Monitor and others.
