CASE STUDY - Website Consulting and Development for Busy Non-Profit Organization

As a long-time provider of website services for a local, environmental-oriented non-profit, we're in tune with their evolution and needs. We've developed several websites for the organization, which handle everything from detailed volunteer project reporting, to e-commerce for donations, product sales, and event registrations.

Our maintenance/retainer keeps the websites secure and up-to-date, and we regularly field requests for site updates and functional additions that go beyond simple content entry. Result: the organization is able to run dynamic, mission-oriented websites without the substantial cost of on-site technical staff.

CASE STUDY - Site Management and Consulting for a Popular Private School

Another long-time client of Rivermile is a private K-8 school in St. Paul. We host and maintain their website, which includes complex e-commerce for childcare registration, as well as commerce for event registration, donations, and routine parent bill-paying.

Our monthly retainer covers everyday maintenance and consulting, while a steady row of new projects and product adjustments is added an our hourly rate. Again, this creates a tremendous value for the budget-conscious school administrators.

CASE STUDY - Complex E-Commerce

Launched in summer 2017, this e-commerce project for a plumbing supply manufacturer includes hundreds of products. Many items have a variety of available configurations (material variables, size and length, etc.). The website site required a strong e-commerce plugin that could handle many unique needs.

We chose WordPress/WooCommerce and its wide array of adaptable extensions, to handle zone and weight-based shipping, image galleries, dynamic pricing, payment gateways, and more.

Our site development consisted of a fixed bid, six-month long initial project that is now active and busy with daily e-commerce. Rivermile continues to provide a monthly service and maintenance contract, to ensure continuous improvement. The website does nearly $400k in sales annually.

CASE STUDY - Online RFP Process and Servicing

Working with a property management firm, we built a sophisticated, website request for proposal process. This enables prospective service vendors to search/locate details from over a thousand different properties, and then place bids for services such as lawn care, snow removal and janitorial.

The workflow takes place on a dedicated WordPress site, leveraging the versatile Gravity Forms plugin ecosystem. The solution saves hundreds of staff hours that would otherwise require a far more manual process (or bulky, and incredibly expensive alternatives).

We continue to grow the system by adding new features and business processes. Rivermile's ongoing relationship with the client is on a contract basis.

The projects mentioned here are not simply items in our rear view mirror. Each case study shown above is active, with consulting provided by Rivermile on a maintenance retainer, contract, or as-need basis. These ongoing partnerships are mutually beneficial, as our clients maintain the advantage of direct access to technical publishing solutions.
